With the advent of British Raj in India, the Indian culture drastically changed. During this period, many British ideas were exposed to and adapted by the people in India. Owing to globalization and modernization, the Indian attire these days has outsourced the ‘original’. The erstwhile Indian fashion has undergone a lot of changes. Halter tops and Short-style Kurtis have become an essential part of one’s wardrobe. Indian fashion designers spend day and night sketching the mix-matched outfits to keep up with the ever-growing market trends and match the outgrowing demands. India is a land of multiple languages and cultures, and serves the fashion world in its own unique possible way. Following are some examples of outfits with a western touch.

Denims

Denims and Jeans represent the most popular outfit, and can blend with any style. This is being popularly worn in the Indian subcontinent and are often paired with Kurtis. The influence of the denims from the west into the Indian fashion not only replaced the traditional chudidars , but also exemplified its elegancy. This type pf fashion is seen in both men and women. Men share the sherwanis with jeans, whereas the women share the Kurtis . Anarkali’s with a western touch have also been into trend these days.

Short-style kurtis

Even though kurtis have been in fashion since a long time, they still continue to be on the top. Heavily embroided kurits, back then seemed to be popular among the masses. The introduction of short-style kurtis with halter necklines give a hard competition to their traditional counterparts.

Sarees/ Lehengas

Saree is the beautiful piece of cloth which has been into the Indian culture since ages, this represents the Indian tradition and is a pride. However, fashion is something which never stops, the western

influence of wearing it a large belt and pairing them with simple short tops instead of ‘original’ blouses, is gaining immense popularity among the masses. It can be best put forth as, The taste of Indianness still remains, but is minced with a western spice. Heavily embroidered lehengas are no more a fashion, the pairing of this long skirt is done with simple yet classy formal shirt tucked in with a belt. Masses have been influenced by this trend .

Suit Jacket

This is the combination of a formal suit and a sherwani. The Indianness of sherwani remains however, the stitching and fits are according to the west.
